Sean Davis is a Lapidary Artist whose formal training started back in the 80's at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. Receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture with a solid foundation in jewelry arts, he apprenticed under Lapidary Designer Glenn Lehrer of Lehrer Designs in Larkspur, CA. before starting his own Lapidary business Sean Davis Creations in 2003 in Petaluma, CA. He received the 2008 Jewelry Artist Magazine's Gemmy Award. He has carved gemstones for Jewelry Artists Ling Yen Jones, Paula Crevoshay, Marianne Hunter, Glenn Lehrer, Kim Eric Lilot and many others.
An avid antique & bottle collector, he has more recently started carving jewelry pieces from found items such as telephone insulators & antique glass and marbles. "There is something wonderful and alive about the history of an old bottle. A hiker that came over on a ferry from San Francisco for a picnic in the woods. A Soda or perhaps a beer for refreshment. When I find these pieces I can't help but ponder over the circumstances with which these items came to be deposited. Turning them into to wearable art brings a new page to the story and keeps the historical time clock." |
